ReSOLVE Instrumented Intervention Service Removes Debris and Opens Valve to Save BHP 7 Days of Rig Time

BHP Petroleum needed to open a downhole barrier valve in a Gulf of Mexico intervention well, but proppant debris blocked access to the valve and made a conventional coiled tubing approach too complex and bulky for the rig. SLB used its ReSOLVE instrumented wireline intervention service to address the debris and prepare the valve for shifting.

SLB completed the work in two wireline runs: the first used ReSOLVE’s active debris removal tool with a custom slim bailer to collect 20.8 lbm of debris, and the second used the linear actuator tool to apply 15,000 lbf and shift the valve open. The intervention was finished in less than 28 hours and saved BHP Petroleum 7 days of rig time compared with a coiled tubing operation.
