Reservoir Test String Delivers Comprehensive Postfracture Evaluation in Highly Deviated Ultradeepwater Well

SLB worked with Offshore Brazil Operating Company to assess the commercial viability of a highly deviated ultradeepwater well in the Santos basin offshore Brazil. The challenge was to obtain reservoir testing data and samples using a downhole test string that could support surface readout operations without compromising well control.

SLB deployed two IRDV intelligent remote dual valves in the test string, along with the DataLatch electrical wireline downhole recorder and transmitter system, CQG crystal quartz gauges, and SCAR inline independent reservoir fluid sampling. This setup enabled real-time, reservoir-representative sampling and reliable well control throughout the test, with the string operating downhole for 770 hours and delivering zero NPT.
