A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Eagle Ford Shale to address productivity losses caused by well interference during infill drilling in drill-to-hold lease areas. The challenge was to plan new drilling programs in a way that would avoid fracture hits and interference between nearby wells, which were reducing output from existing parent wells.
SLB implemented an integrated modeling workflow using Kinetix Shale, INTERSECT, and VISAGE to combine 3D seismic, geologic, reservoir, and geomechanical data and simulate fracture propagation, depletion, and stress changes. The approach helped optimize infill well placement, refracturing programs, pad and lease strategies, and fracture spacing to minimize unwanted fracture hits and interference, improving development decisions and reducing the risk of production impairment.
