Repsol Confirms Reserves in Unconsolidated Sands Offshore Mexico Using Intelligent Wireline Formation Testing Platform

SLB worked with Repsol in offshore Mexico to evaluate a thick, unconsolidated heavy-oil reservoir with very low rock strength, where the team needed representative fluid samples, productivity testing, viscosity profiling across stacked sands, and an understanding of vertical connectivity.

Using SLB’s Ora intelligent wireline formation testing platform, including deep transient testing and fluid sampling, Repsol safely collected clean hydrocarbon samples at multiple depths and measured reservoir properties such as kh, kv, and skin. The results helped confirm oil viscosity gradients, predict productivity, and support minimum reserves confirmation for the discovery offshore Mexico.
