REDA Continuum Stages Extend Flow Rate Range, Saving Operator USD 185,000 in Unconventional Well

SLB worked with a large oil drilling service provider facing a steep production decline in a harsh Bakken Shale well with high frac sand flowback. The operator needed to draw down the well from an initial production rate of 1,918 bbl/d using a single ESP before moving to low-flow artificial lift.

SLB recommended and installed the Maximus electric submersible pump system with 2,500 Continuum unconventional extended-life ESP stages. The solution delivered 82% drawdown over 10 months, ran for 271 days with 97% uptime, and more than doubled the field average run life, saving USD 185,000 in workover and equipment replacement costs and avoiding about 4,000 bbl of deferred production.
