A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Well Service Operating Company in Gabon to clean out 250 m of sand fill from a deviated, subhydrostatic openhole well so production could be restored. The company faced the risk of fluid loss, hydrocarbon influx, and difficult sand removal because the well could not support conventional cleanout fluids and had low annular velocities.
SLB used the ACTive Cleanout CT real-time wellbore fill removal service with foam, along with the ACTive PTC CT real-time pressure, temperature, and casing collar locator tool to continuously monitor bottomhole pressure. This let the team maintain balanced conditions, prevent influx and leakoff, and complete the job in one run, cutting total operating time by 60% versus conventional sand cleanout methods.
