Premier Oil Saves 15.8 Drilling Days, USD 10 Million in Multiwell Campaign Offshore Indonesia

Premier Oil worked with SLB to address serious drilling challenges offshore Indonesia, including collision risk, poor wellbore stability, stuck pipe, low rate of penetration, and the need for better dogleg severity in unconsolidated formations. The campaign also had no offset-well lessons to guide operations, increasing uncertainty and risk.

SLB designed an integrated drilling plan using PowerDrive Xceed RSS, QuikSurvey surveying, Hydra-Jar AP, Accelerator AP, advanced fluids, and other drilling services to improve steerability, surveying, hole cleaning, and stability. The result was 15.8 rig days saved and more than USD 10 million in savings, including a 19% time reduction versus AFE, USD 1.45 million less mud cost, higher DLS, and two Schlumberger ROP records in a 16-in hole.
