SLB worked with Zhaikmunai LLP on a demanding Kazakhstan well that required a high 10°/30 m build rate through a troublesome formation. The project needed to minimize differential sticking, hole instability, shock and vibration, while still meeting planned drilling performance and target ROP.

SLB recommended an integrated BHA featuring the PowerDrive Archer RSS in a PowerDrive vorteX configuration, along with QuikDownlink service, a FireStorm PDC bit, and motor features designed to overcome standpipe pressure limits. The solution delivered a constant 10°/30 m DLS, drilled the curve and lateral in a single run, and cut overall well construction time by 12 days while saving up to 6 hours of drilling time.
