Pluspetrol Saves 5.5 Drilling Days and 7.5 Total Days Using NeoSteer CL ABSS

Pluspetrol, an oil and gas operator in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta Basin, needed to eliminate a costly trip while drilling a high-dogleg curve section followed by a long lateral. SLB recommended the NeoSteer CL curve and lateral at-bit steerable system (ABSS) to replace the operator’s previous two-run approach.

Using SLB’s NeoSteer CL ABSS, Pluspetrol drilled the curve and 2,000 m lateral in a single run, reaching 2,621 m in 82.53 drilling hours. The solution saved 5.5 drilling days and 7.5 total days, cut casing operation time by 1.5 days, reduced CO2 emissions by 128 metric tons, and set a new field ROP record of 55 m/h while maintaining hole quality and trajectory control.
