PIPESIM Simulator Increases Incremental Gas Production in Mature Fields by 10%, Ukraine

UkrGasVydobuvannya, the largest natural gas producer in Central and Eastern Europe, needed to improve unstable production, manage hydrates in its trunklines, and identify bottlenecks as it worked toward a major production increase. SLB provided the PIPESIM steady-state multiphase flow simulator to help the company address liquid loading in wells, hydrate risk, and compressor power requirements.

SLB implemented a detailed field network model in PIPESIM, replacing manual workflows with numerical simulation to analyze wells and pipelines across three interconnected fields. The solution helped UkrGasVydobuvannya achieve a 10% production increase, create a more stable operating envelope for 55 wells with liquid loading, and add 22,000 m3/d of capacity through improved artificial lift simulation, while also improving model accuracy and speeding field simulations from days to minutes.
