A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with a leading independent operating company that needed a fast, reliable evaluation of potential oil recovery from its Eagle Ford shale assets to support a critical economic decision. The operator faced tight timelines and limited data, with only a small set of low-quality vertical well logs, no cores, and no experience or tools to build a full assessment of the acreage.
SLB deployed petrotechnical specialists to perform a rapid petrophysical analysis using Petrel E&P software and simulation tools, building 3D static and dynamic reservoir models to estimate oil in place, drainage area, and long-term production. In less than a month, SLB identified the main production drivers, forecast recovery for vertical and horizontal wells, and showed that a properly engineered horizontal well could recover more than 600,000 bbl over 30 years, enabling the customer to make better-informed plans for the asset.
