Petrobras Perforates 6,172-m High-Pressure Reservoir Using 7-in HSD Gun System, Offshore Brazil

Petrobras, working with SLB, faced a challenging deepwater perforating job offshore Brazil at 6,172 m with 14,300-psi hydrostatic pressure from calcium bromide mud. To address the high-pressure environment, SLB recommended its 7-in medium-pressure HSD high shot density perforating gun system, along with the PURE clean perforations system and eFire electronic firing head.

SLB deployed the 7-in MP HSD guns rated to 16,500 psi, enabling tubing-conveyed perforating across a wider pressure range and providing the needed charge penetration and shot density. The system successfully perforated the reservoir with deep penetrating charges, delivered better dynamic underbalance, and demonstrated outstanding reliability, helping optimize production.
