Case Study: Permian Basin Operating Company achieves 13.4% higher fluid production with SLB Fulcrum cementing technology

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Permian Basin Operating Company Case Study

Permian Operator Gains >13% Fluid Production with Better Isolation

Permian Basin Operating Company was looking to improve isolation in its horizontal wells because drilling fluid channels behind casing can let fracturing energy migrate and reduce fracture efficiency and production. SLB addressed this challenge with Fulcrum cement-conveyed frac performance technology in the cemented section of the lateral.

SLB recommended adding Fulcrum technology to the cement and pairing it with microseismic analysis and production monitoring. In a three-well pad comparison, the Fulcrum-cemented well showed 44% longer and more uniform fracture lengths than a conventionally cemented well, and it produced 13.4% more fluids in the first year than the average of the other two wells, delivering at least 40,000 bbl of incremental oil.
