PeriScope Mapper Guides Precise Placement of CACT Extended-Reach Well

CACT Operators Group worked with SLB to drill an extended-reach horizontal well in a thin reservoir layer about 2 m thick, where structural uncertainty and a tight drilling torque limit made it difficult to land the well accurately and stay within the target zone. The team needed to place the well in the flank, then drill along the structure to reach the planned lateral length without hitting a hard calcite-cemented streak.

SLB used PeriScope bed boundary mapping, EcoScope multifunction logging-while-drilling, and adnVISION azimuthal density neutron services to guide real-time geosteering and keep the trajectory smooth. The well was placed 0.5 m below the top of pay, achieved 100% net to gross, and delivered initial oil production of 2,000 bbl/d with 0% water cut; SLB also helped drill a 415-m lateral while staying within the drilling torque limit.
