SLB worked with Eagle Ford Shale to improve postfracturing plug drillout operations in South Texas. The operator needed a better way to optimize equipment layout and develop an empirical method for evaluating well behavior during drillout, while improving efficiency and meeting completion objectives.
SLB implemented the Vx Spectra surface multiphase flowmeter alongside coiled tubing and flowback data, adding differential pressure measurements across the plug catcher to track solids return and characterize well behavior in real time. The combined data approach gave the operator high-resolution insight into downhole activity, helped optimize surface equipment layout and procedures, and achieved detailed analysis of well behavior that improved control of the plug drillout process.
