Operator Uses SCREEN PULSE Separator, Reduces Average Per-Foot SBM Costs by 30%

SLB worked with Eagle Ford Shale to reduce synthetic-base mud loss and the cost of disposing oil-wet cuttings while maintaining high drilling rates in a high-ROP environment. The company needed a way to control mud losses and cuttings disposal costs during drilling operations in South Texas.

SLB, through M-I SWACO, deployed the SCREEN PULSE fluid and cuttings separator along with MONGOOSE PRO shale shakers and DURAFLO composite replacement screens. The solution helped Eagle Ford Shale reduce average SBM cost per foot by 30% from USD 34.72 to USD 24.34, cut disposal cost per well by 13.5% from USD 52,000 to USD 45,000, and achieve more than USD 68,000 in net savings across the first two wells, leading the operator to use the technology on future wells.
