Case Study: Midland Basin Based Operating Company achieves 36% higher oil production with SLB HiWAY fracturing

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Midland Basin Based Operating Company Case Study

Operator Uses HiWAY Technique to Increase Production 36% with Less Water and Proppant

SLB worked with a Midland Basin based operating company that wanted to complete more fracturing stages using fewer resources while increasing production in the Cline Shale. The operator needed a more efficient approach than slickwater fracturing because existing operations required high fluid volumes in a remote area, making development less profitable.

SLB recommended and implemented its HiWAY flow-channel fracturing technique, supported by fracture modeling and logging tools, to optimize the pump schedule and improve conductivity. The results included 13% less fluid and 32% less proppant per stage, 90% of stages pumped to completion versus 60% with slickwater, 33% flowback load recovery, and 36% higher normalized oil production over 65 days, leading the operator to plan future use of the technique in the Midland Basin.
