A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with The South-Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP), an operator developing the Woodford Shale in Oklahoma, to improve the efficiency and safety of plug-and-perf fracturing operations. The main challenge was preparing the toe of cemented horizontal wells for the first stimulation stage without relying on costly and risky mechanical intervention such as coiled tubing or a workover rig.
SLB deployed the KickStart rupture disc valve to eliminate mechanical intervention for toe preparation and enable the first stage to be stimulated reliably. The solution delivered 100 installations in less than one year with a 100% success rate and zero non-productive time, saving more than USD 50,000 per well on average and totaling USD 5.4 million in savings.
