Case Study: a major North Sea operator extends field life and saves USD 420,000 per well with SLB's upgraded well technologies

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Major North Sea Operator Case Study

Operator saves USD 420,000 per well with upgraded technologies

SLB worked with a major North Sea operator that needed to extend the life of aging offshore platforms built in the 1980s and 1990s while improving long-term well integrity and meeting strict North Sea operating standards. The operator’s modernization program had to address equipment degradation, corrosion, fatigue, and other integrity risks without disrupting ongoing drilling and maintenance activities.

SLB, through its Cameron technology, upgraded legacy well equipment by integrating next-generation wellheads, Christmas trees, running tools, and BOP-compatible systems with existing infrastructure. The work included compact wellhead systems, modular compact wellheads, and system integration testing, which helped reduce completion time by an average of one day per well and cut nonproductive time, saving about USD 420,000 per well in total.
