Operator Saves 20 Hours of Milling Time and Completes West Texas Job in One Run

SLB worked with West Texas Operating Company, an operator in West Texas that needed to mill 19 frac plugs in a 4,200-ft horizontal section of a 5-in completion. The job was challenging because the interval was at 310 degF in a high-flow environment, where most elastomer-based thru-tubing motors would not survive and debris beds could form if flow dropped too low.

SLB proposed a DynaForce TT high-performance thru-tubing motor with an NBR-HR elastomer and a 3-loose fit to deliver the needed torque and withstand the high temperatures. The operator completed the milling in one run and finished in 40 hours, saving 20 hours versus competitors’ estimates, with zero stalls and an average of 20 minutes per plug.
