Operator in Southern Mexico Doubles Oil Production in Low-Pressure Reservoir Using ACTive Services

SLB worked with a large oil production company in southern Mexico that needed to perforate and stimulate new intervals in a mature, low-pressure carbonate well without hurting an existing producing interval that had some water production. The company also wanted to minimize deferred production, avoid a long shut-in and nitrogen lift, confirm the perforating sequence, and get downhole data to help plan the next matrix stimulation.

SLB used ACTive OptiFIRE CT real-time selective perforating, ACTive Matrix real-time stimulation, and ACTive Lift real-time nitrogen lifting services to perforate two intervals without shutting in the well, monitor downhole pressure and temperature in real time, and optimize the stimulation treatment. The result was that oil production doubled, water production stayed under control, and deferred production was minimized, with the well flowing again after only a few hours during stimulation.
