A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with a largest deepwater producing company in the Gulf of Mexico to confirm zonal isolation and the top of cement in a 7¾-in liner section of a deepwater well with depleted sands. After cementing the liner, the operator suspected mud contamination at the shoe and needed to verify the actual cement barrier placement before moving ahead with completion planning.
SLB used Invizion Evaluation well integrity evaluation service, supported by Isolation Scanner and Sonic Scanner data, to assess cement quality and identify areas of poor bonding and possible remediation. The analysis confirmed the top of cement at 21,409 ft MD and revealed contaminated cement and off-center pipe sections with inconsistent cement patches, allowing the operator to optimize the completion strategy and reduce future well integrity risk.
