Case Study: Kazakhstan Based Operating Company boosts condensate production up to 300% with SLB OpenPath stimulation services

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Kazakhstan Based Operating Company Case Study

OpenPath Services Manage Permeability Variations in Hot Carbonate to Improve Production up to 300%

SLB worked with a Kazakhstan Based Operating Company to stimulate a long, inclined condensate producer well in a hot carbonate reservoir. The well had a thief zone, natural fractures, and large permeability variations, making it difficult to distribute acid evenly across the lateral and control leakoff economically.

SLB designed a three-stage OpenPath stimulation program using OpenPath Reach extended-contact acid, OpenPath Sequence diversion, MaxCO3 Acid, and VDA acid to divert fluid away from the fractured zone and into lower-permeability intervals. The treatment successfully improved production from 5 to 8 m3/d to an initial 50 m3/d and then stabilized at 20 to 23 m3/d, delivering about a threefold increase and helping meet economic targets.
