OpenPath Sequence Service Raises Disposal Well Injectivity More Than 800% for Lukoil-NVN

SLB worked with Lukoil-NVN, the operator of offshore water injection and disposal wells in the Caspian Sea’s Korchagina field, which saw injectivity decline in one disposal well and was forced to shut in two nearby oil producers. The well was completed across naturally fractured carbonate and sandstone zones, making it difficult to place stimulation fluid evenly because it leaked into natural fractures.

SLB applied its OpenPath Sequence diversion stimulation service, using VDA viscoelastic diverting acid with multimode diversion particles for the carbonate interval and MSR mud and silt remover for the sandstone. The treatment raised injectivity in the carbonate zone by 823% to 88.6 m3/d/atm and increased sandstone injectivity by 32% to 49 m3/d/atm, allowing Lukoil-NVN to reopen the two oil wells.
