Case Study: an oil and gas production company increases oil output by 70% with SLB OpenPath Sequence Service

Preview of the Oil and Gas Production Company Case Study

OpenPath Sequence Service Increases Oil Production by 70% in Mature Deviated Well, Kazakhstan

SLB worked with an oil and gas production company in western Kazakhstan to improve output from a long, heterogeneous, depleted cased-hole carbonate well. The operator needed to restimulate a 288 m interval without mechanical isolation hardware or coiled tubing, while also limiting water-based fluid volumes and avoiding emulsions, sludging, and formation damage at 70°C.

SLB recommended and delivered an OpenPath Sequence diversion stimulation service using SDA self-diverting acid and engineered composite pills. The treatment diverted acid into lower-permeability zones as intended, cut cleanup time by 20%, and avoided sludges or emulsions. After treatment, oil production increased from 20 to 34 m3/d and gas production rose from 29 to 71 m3/d, with poststimulation logging confirming stronger gains in the lower-permeability intervals.
