ONGC Controls Water Encroachment with History-Matched Streamlines

ONGC, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, needed to investigate irregular water cut across nearly 200 wells in a large onshore field and improve future recovery planning after 30 years of production history. SLB supported the effort with the Petrel E&P software platform and ECLIPSE FrontSim streamline simulator to help analyze the complex reservoir and history match production behavior.

Using SLB’s Petrel workflow and ECLIPSE FrontSim, ONGC generated 3D streamline models, analyzed allocation tables, and identified the dominant flow paths and culprit water injectors. The work improved water cut balance, delivered a more accurate field performance review, and increased confidence in recovery planning, while reducing history matching time from about two months to 15 days.
