OilMAX Diverter Saves Mexican Operator USD 7.4 Million in Operating Costs

SLB worked with Oilmax Energy, an operator producing from naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs in southern Mexico. The company needed to increase long-term oil production without driving up water cut, but the highly variable fracture network made it difficult to achieve uniform zonal coverage with conventional acidizing.

SLB used OilMAX matrix acidizing diverter with CLEAN SWEEP damage removal solvent systems and reactive treating fluids to redirect acid away from thief and high-water-cut zones. Over 18 months, more than 100 treatments increased oil production by 11,000 bbl/d, reduced produced water by 1,300 bbl/d, cut cleanup time by two days per well, and saved Oilmax Energy USD 7.4 million in operating costs, including USD 5.7 million from avoided deferred production.
