Nostrum Oil & Gas PLC - Customer Case Study
Nostrum Oil & Gas PLC, through its subsidiary Zhaikmunai LLP at the Chinarevskoye Field in northwestern Kazakhstan, needed to record pressure buildup and temperature for 22 days to support reservoir characterization and management. The well had a monobore completion with no nipples, so traditional gauge-setting options were not suitable, and the customer needed a nonexplosive, lower-cost intervention. SLB recommended a large-bore gauge hanger with pressure and temperature gauges, deployed using the D-Set digital electrohydraulic setting tool and DSL digital slickline cable.
SLB and Peak Well Systems implemented the large-bore gauge hanger solution and set it mechanically at the required depth without explosive devices, giving the customer a platform for medium-term monitoring. The operation was completed with only 5 hours of personnel involvement for the full 22-day measurement program, avoiding the need to mobilize a second slickline unit and 24-hour crew and saving an estimated USD 80,000.
