A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with North Sea Operating Company to perforate a 393-ft interval in an injector well from a semisubmersible rig. The job was challenging because the 18,980-ft well had a glass-reinforced epoxy completion, and the operator wanted to avoid the risk and potential damage associated with many wireline runs.
SLB used its XR-Perf expanded-reach wireline perforating system with high-strength coated coaxial cable, along with planning tools to optimize the deployment. The interval was completed in just two runs instead of the usual seven, including a 267-ft gun string, saving up to three days of rig time and more than USD 1 million while reducing impact on the GRE completion and lowering environmental risk.
