North Sea Operator Optimizes Power Consumption in 12 Wells While Improving ESP Run Life

SLB worked with North Sea Operating Company, a mature oil producer in the central North Sea, to optimize lifting costs and extend ESP run life in a challenging field where high intervention costs and deferred production make uptime critical. The company needed a better way to manage electric submersible pump performance and improve the economics of production.

Using SLB’s Lift IQ service together with DesignRite software and downhole monitoring from REDA Maximus ESP systems, the team analyzed operating data and recommended lower surface voltage settings for several wells. SLB optimized 12 wells, reducing ESP electricity consumption by 124 kW across the field and by 15% in one well, while also lowering motor winding temperature by 4°C and reducing downhole stress to help extend run life.
