North Caspian Extended-Reach Wells Completed Without Washpipe, Cutting 2 Days and USD 2 Million per Well

SLB worked with a large oil field company developing openhole extended-reach wells in the North Caspian. The operator needed sand control with inflow control devices while dealing with oil-base mud cleanup, but using washpipe or coiled tubing was not feasible in these long, high-drag wells.

SLB recommended the ResFlow CV check-valve ICD, which allowed oil-base mud to be displaced during washdown without washpipe. The company completed five wells successfully with no SLB-related nonproductive time, cutting two days and saving about USD 2 million per well.
