Noble Energy Saves Up to 20 Deepwater Drilling Days Using Integrated Services and Project Management

Noble Energy worked with SLB to drill the Tamar 8 deepwater well in the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Israel, facing limited local infrastructure, complex permitting for materials and personnel, a challenging geological environment, and a need to reduce the high nonproductive time seen in earlier wells. The project required managing a large multidisciplinary effort while improving efficiency and maintaining safety.

SLB, through Integrated Services Management and an integrated service project manager, streamlined planning and execution across drilling and completions, coordinating people, equipment, logistics, and permitting while deploying fit-for-purpose technologies and services including Smith Bits, directional drilling, LWD/MWD, mudlogging, openhole logging, and reservoir evaluation tools. The result was a record-low NPT operation with zero HSE or tool failures, zero misses for crew changes, and savings of as much as 20 drilling days versus previously drilled wells, helping extend development into the Leviathan Field.
