A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with an independent operating company in the Niobrara Shale in the US that was facing a 15% gap between oil produced and oil measured in storage tanks, along with rising emissions and EPA compliance pressure. The challenge was to retain more production by preventing natural gas liquids from flashing off and to reduce VOC emissions.
SLB implemented the ECO2 VOC emissions reduction system, including a CrossStream integrated production unit, a modular oil stabilizer, and a power generator, to keep hydrocarbons in the liquid phase and control emissions. The operator increased recovered oil from 85% to 95.66% of produced oil, reduced emissions to near zero, improved measurement accuracy to allocation limits of ±3%, and increased the thermal content and value of the gas produced.
