Case Study: Chevron achieves faster sand control completion and higher production with SLB’s MZ-Xpress system

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Chevron Case Study

MZ-Xpress System Saves More Than 7 Days in Rig Time

Chevron worked with SLB to improve the efficiency of sand control operations in the depleted Attaka field in Indonesia, where three unconsolidated, laminated sand layers made multizone completion and stimulation difficult. The company also wanted to boost production from its Juliet 02 well while avoiding the extra time and complexity of multiple gravel-pack and frac-pack runs.

SLB used the MZ-Xpress system to complete multizone fracturing and gravel packing in a single trip, helping eliminate repeated in-and-out wellbore runs and reduce fluid loss. The result was a 9.2-day fracture-stimulation process versus an estimated 16.6 days for a traditional stacked completion, saving about USD 1.665 million in rig time and delivering production 2.5 times above the initial estimate.
