A SLB Case Study
Seplat Petroleum Development Company worked with SLB to develop a marginal onshore oil field in Nigeria’s Niger Delta with fewer wells, because the reserves were spread across 14 stacked reservoirs and the project needed to reduce capex and opex. Seplat also had to comply with local regulations requiring back allocation for individually produced reservoir zones, while managing poor site accessibility and higher HSE risk.
SLB implemented a modular intelligent well completion with downhole flow control, pressure and temperature monitoring, and real-time remote control to manage three zones in one well. The solution enabled faster completion within budget, with no incidents or NPT and less HSE exposure, while improving reservoir management and meeting regulatory requirements for joint production and back allocation; test results showed measured and estimated production were within 5%.
