A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with a leading water based drilling company operating on a remote North Slope, Alaska rig that was struggling with high-solids drilling fluid, screen blinding, poor solids control, and rising costs. The operator needed a way to improve drilling efficiency and reduce rig time, fluid dilution, and operational risk while handling demanding water-based and oil-based drilling sections.
SLB recommended MD-3 triple-deck shakers to replace conventional shakers, using multiple screen mesh sizes and the SNAP-LOK screen-repair system to improve solids removal and reduce blinding. The result was better fluid recovery, lower dilution needs, improved screen life, reduced HSE risk, and major time savings, including one week saved on conventional-profile wells worth USD 1.68 million and 10 days saved on extended-reach wells worth USD 2.4 million.
