Maximus ESP System Increases Drawdown Pressure, Boosting Production by 18,000 m3

Salym Petroleum Development, a joint venture operating in the Salym oil fields of western Siberia, Russia, was struggling to meet production targets from high-potential wells with very tight clearances. Its existing D-series ESP pumps could not draw down bottomhole pressure enough to meet requirements, limiting flow rate and reducing run life. SLB evaluated the situation and recommended an integrated ESP approach using the REDA Maximus system.

SLB replaced the D-series units with larger S-series pumps and Maximus ESP systems, including a specially modified protectolizer to fit the tight casing clearance. The new setup nearly doubled surface flow rate, reduced pump intake pressure by more than 75%, improved cooling and gas handling, and delivered an additional 18,000 m3 of oil production over seven months while also lowering operating costs.
