A SLB Case Study
PEMEX faced a severe productivity decline in an offshore Homol field well in southeastern Mexico, where damage in a naturally fractured carbonate reservoir led to a 70%–75% water cut and eventually forced the well to be shut in. SLB recommended its OilSEEKER diverter system to help restore production in the damaged well.
SLB cleaned the wellbore with CLEAN SWEEP solvent, then alternated acid stages with OilSEEKER viscoelastic surfactant diverter to selectively block water zones and improve acid placement in oil-bearing zones. The treatment increased oil production to 6,800 bbl/d, or 148% above the initial rate, eliminated water production, reduced skin damage to -2, and avoided the need for a nitrogen kickoff.
