A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Congo Operating Company Case Study

Maintenance Strategy Reduces Intervention Time by 83% and Increases Recovery Congo

SLB worked with Congo Operating Company, a Congo operator facing well integrity issues across an aging portfolio, with more than 65% of wells showing problems. The company needed to improve operational performance and reduce risk in a challenging environment with high pressure, high temperature, H2S exposure, multiple wellhead suppliers, and inexperienced local personnel.

SLB implemented a proactive OEM maintenance program for wellheads, gate valves, and Christmas trees, with structured preventive and corrective maintenance, inventory management, and support for drilling and production planning. The program reduced intervention time by 83%, recovered more than 186,854 bbl of lost oil production per intervention, reduced inventory requirements, streamlined ordering, and improved safety and uptime.
