Logging on UltraTRAC All-Terrain Tractor Saves 1 Day of Rig Time
Perenco UK Ltd needed to run an advanced formation evaluation logging program in a highly deviated openhole well in the UK, but pipe conveyance would have added cost, time, and HSE risk. The company needed electrical image logs, dielectric and high-resolution magnetic resonance measurements, and formation pressure tests in oil-base mud, making the job a challenging wireline operation. SLB provided the UltraTRAC all-terrain wireline tractor to address the conveyance challenge.
SLB configured the UltraTRAC tractor with four pairs of drives to convey a long, heavy toolstring including OBMI2, Dielectric Scanner, CMR-Plus, and PressureXpress tools. The full 187 ft toolstring and tractor assembly logged the reservoir in three passes over 4,750 ft in 30 hours, delivering high-quality data and saving 24 hours, or one day, of rig time compared with pipe-conveyed logging.
