Lift IQ Service Improves ESP Efficiency and Reduces Deferred Production in Permian Basin Fields

SLB worked with Permian Basin Operating Company, an operator in the Permian Basin, to address poor ESP performance in two unconventional fields. The company was facing deferred production, frequent pump shutdowns, and reduced pump lifetime because of high gas-to-oil ratios, gas locking, motor overheating, and scaling issues, with limited ability to monitor equipment remotely.

SLB implemented the Lift IQ production life cycle management service to remotely surveil ESP operations, diagnose problems, and adjust pump settings or restart pumps before shutdowns occurred. In just one month, SLB helped produce 3,582 bbl of oil that would otherwise have been deferred, reduced ESP shutdowns by 28%, cut downtime by 38% through remote interventions, and lowered overall ESP downtime by more than half.
