Lift IQ Service Enables 4,800 bbl of Oil Production from Unexpectedly Gassy Well

SLB worked with a large oil production company in Egypt’s Western Desert to address a newly drilled well that produced more gas than expected. The unexpected gas content caused the ESP to run intermittently with frequent shutdowns, creating restart delays, risking premature failure, and deferring oil production.

SLB recommended its Lift IQ production life cycle management service, using a Phoenix xt150 high-temperature ESP monitoring system and an Instruct acquisition and control unit to monitor and optimize the ESP and VSD in real time. SLB remotely adjusted alarm settings and VSD feedback mode to stabilize operation, enabling steady production, reducing shutdowns, and delivering 4,800 bbl of oil that would otherwise have been deferred while extending ESP run life until a replacement could be scheduled.
