Kuwait Oil Company Decreases Wellhead Injection Pressure by 1,000 psi with ACTive Q Service

Kuwait Oil Company worked with SLB to address declining injectivity in a water injector well in the Sabriya field. Rising wellhead pressure was reducing pressure support to nearby producer wells, and the company needed a better way to identify which intervals in the horizontal openhole section required stimulation or diversion. SLB used the ACTive Q service and ACTive DFLO CT real-time flow measurement tool to provide the needed profiling data.

SLB used real-time flow measurements to map the prestimulation intake profile, target the middle section with coiled tubing acid stimulation, and confirm the treatment with a postinjection flow profile in a single run. The result was a drop in wellhead injection pressure from 1,000 psi to zero psi at a constant 8 bbl/min injection rate, more uniform injection across the 2,400 ft openhole section, and a three-day reduction in operational time.
