A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Middle East Oil Field Company, which was dealing with a highly heterogeneous offshore carbonate reservoir where water-producing zones were difficult to identify and monitor. The field’s long horizontal wells with dual ESPs made production logging and reservoir interpretation challenging, while rising water cut and uncertain water influx were leading to bypassed reserves.
SLB deployed tubing-retrievable flow control (TRFC) valves along with REDA Maximus ESP systems equipped with Phoenix artificial lift downhole monitoring systems in 22 wells for zonal monitoring and control. The solution improved reservoir understanding and water-breakthrough management, increased oil production by about 5% in one year, added 2,300 bbl/d in Year 1 and another 800 bbl/d in Year 2, and expanded accessible reserves while controlling water cut.
