Integrated Perforating Design Shoots 3,000-ft Interval of High-H2S Carbonate Formation in Single Run

SLB helped a leading gas well operating company address a difficult perforation job in a 3,000-ft horizontal carbonate interval with high H2S concentrations. The well’s complexity, including an openhole lateral in communication and the need to maintain well control, required a safer underbalance perforating approach.

SLB used a 4½-in closed-system tubing-conveyed perforating string with PowerJet deep-penetrating shaped charges and the PURE clean perforations system, supported by SPAN perforating analysis. The 3,000-ft interval was shot in a single run, both jobs fired successfully, and only 48.5 lbm of debris was recovered, helping minimize gun debris, avoid H2S-related issues, and keep operations HSE compliant.
