Improved Seismic Data Enhances Lateral Completion Design Quality in Texas

SLB worked with Texas Oil Well Operating Company, which was trying to improve production in a Texas prospect where existing seismic data quality was too poor to support detailed interpretation, fracture characterization, or reliable porosity prediction. The company needed better subsurface understanding to improve completion design and production from wells with limited performance.

SLB deployed its UniQ integrated point-receiver land seismic system to collect full-azimuth, dense point-receiver data for advanced depth imaging and azimuthal anisotropic processing. Using 18,000 broadband receivers and a 2-100-Hz sweep, the operator achieved higher signal-to-noise ratio, better resolution, and improved fault imaging, enabling stress field characterization that correlated well with prior completion results and helped redesign current and future laterals for better completion quality.
