A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Southeast Asia Operating Company, an offshore operator developing a marginal field along the coastline of southeast Asia, to complete an openhole fishhook well with a steep 136° upward trajectory and more than 700 meters of openhole interval. The company needed to ensure a complete annular gravel pack in a highly deviated well without exceeding fracture pressure or allowing proppant to bridge prematurely.
SLB recommended the Hornet skid-mounted gravel-pack blender and ClearPAC polymer-free gravel-pack fluid to control slurry concentration in real time and help place the gravel pack from toe to heel. The job achieved a 100% annular pack, confirmed by 74,704 lbm of sand pumped, and the well flowed beyond expectations at a stable, expected rate without sand production.
