Genel Energy reduces static losses from 26 bbl/h to 0 bbl/h using lost circulation control treatment in offshore well

Genel Energy, working with SLB, faced severe mud losses while drilling an offshore exploration well below a previously set casing shoe in the Eocene formation. After multiple attempts with lost-circulation pills, the well still had 26 bbl/h of static losses and a total mud loss of 2,100 bbl, putting drilling, logging, and cementing operations at risk.

SLB deployed its Losseal Natural Fracture lost-circulation treatment to seal naturally open fractures and cure the losses. Two 60-bbl treatments reduced static losses from 26 bbl/h to 15 bbl/h and then to 0 bbl/h, enabling wireline logging and casing cementing to proceed and restoring control of the well.
