A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Permian Basin Operating Company, a Permian Basin operator drilling long horizontal multizone wells, to improve liquids production while avoiding interstage fracture communication behind the casing. The company was concerned that mud channels in the long laterals could allow fracture fluid and pressure to communicate between stages and reduce fracturing efficiency and well performance.
SLB deployed Fulcrum cement-conveyed frac performance technology in five new wells and stimulated them with the OneStim integrated completions team. Compared with 56 nearby offset wells, the Fulcrum-treated wells delivered 22% higher mean first 3-month cumulative liquids production when normalized by lateral length and 41% higher when normalized by proppant mass, with both gains reported as statistically significant.
