Flowback and Well Cleanup Services Eliminate NPT While Addressing Salt and Sand Returns

Appalachia Operating Company was facing heavy salt and sand returns during flowback operations in the Marcellus Shale, which repeatedly caused unplanned well shut-ins and raised the risk of equipment damage. SLB, through Cameron high-performance flowback and well testing services, was brought in to help manage the cleanup challenge.

SLB installed and closely monitored flowback and testing equipment, using frequent sand-trap cleanouts and separator management to keep the wells flowing safely and efficiently. The result was that three wells avoided shut-ins, equipment damage was prevented, and the operator has since relied on SLB for multiple flowback jobs with zero spills.
